Attention Northern California and Southern Oregon artists: The City of Ashland, Oregon Public Art Commission (PAC) seeks qualifications of artists, or teams of artists, experienced in the creation of original, three-dimensional outdoor public art works.
The PAC intends to commission an art piece to be permanently installed on the Gateway Island located in downtown Ashland, Oregon. The total budget for the art work is $100,000. Artists should review the RFQ requirements before submitting their qualifications.
The deadline for submission is March 31, 2014.

Artists are encouraged to submit original paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and poetry/performance art for jury selection to be considered for the two openings; First Friday, March 7, 2014 and the First Friday, April 4, 2014. Entry deadlines are Monday, February
24th for the March show and March 24, 2014 for the April show.

REMINDER: ART INSPIRES ASHLAND is taking place this Saturday at the Historic Ashland Armory - doors open at 6pm and presentations start at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online for $25.
The highlight of the weekend will be three featured artists talking about their skills, inspirations and accomplishments in 20-minute presentations held at the Historic Ashland Armory on Saturday, November 16th, 2013. These three artists will also lead workshops during the day on Saturday, aimed at inspiring artists and art lovers.
The three featured artists are Juliette Aristides, classical painter, instructor and founder of Aristides Atelier at the Gage Academy of Fine Art in Seattle, WA., Reina-Marie Loader, film-maker of independent socio-political films from Vienna, Austria, and Lucy Knisley, illustrator, comic artist and author from New York City.
The Museum will feature noted New Jersey artist Willie Cole with Willie Cole: Illuminations and Transformations which will include From Water to Light, an installation made from recycled water bottles, and additional sculptures. more...
