Images have a great impact on promoting businesses and retail through social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and others are useful social media to promote businesses such as Michael’s which is mentioned in this post. Promotions are heightened through these different social media which is very important for the business to sale retail and gain name recognition. Art Storm helps promote artist and their artwork using the image based social media to help the artists we represent meet their goals.
Michael’s arts and crafts supplies stores were looking for a new means to promote their new campaign featuring frames, flowers, and wall decor (Minsker). Using Pinterest as a social outlet Michael's started a, “pin it to win it,” promotion giving pinners a chance to win a $500 gift card to a Michael’s craft store. In using Pinterest users were able to see the product along with the details and price. Users didn’t have to fuss with creating a profile or page just to participate e.g. the websites of Pinterest and Facebook are easy to use.
93% of marketers are using social for business (Cooper). Arts Storm not only uses social media to promote the business we extensively use social media to promote the artist and their art work that we represent. The use of social media is becoming more commonly used on average 23% Facebook users check their account 5x or more a day and 25% of the users accounts are public.
The use of images is eye catching, participants see the product before reading any promotional means in that the users are not forced but invited into the promotion by their own will. By having the users re-pin or post the images and description gives the company, Michael’s in this case, a larger network of people to promote products and the given company.
As the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words and with social media to show images there is more connection and the ease of use engages more participation. Art Storm takes advantage of social media as we use image base promotions for the artists we represent. By using Pinterest, Facebook and other means of social media to promote products and businesses is a successful way to sell products, gain customers, and build name recognition.
